SQL Editor

The SQL Editor window consists of three sections: a Code Navigator window, the main text edit window, and a data grid.

The code navigator displays an outline view of the editor's contents and allows efficient navigation of large files.

The text edit window supports standard windows editing commands and keystrokes, and provides:

Automatic Statement completion
DB2 syntax highlighting
Statement formatting
Object description pop-ups via the F4 key
SQL statement recall
Code completion templates
Code snippets

The data grid displays statement execution output. It displays multiple script result sets and explain plans. Grid contents can be saved to multiple formats.

Query Builder

The Query Builder is a fast way to create the framework for select, insert, update, and delete statements for tables, views, and synonyms. In addition, column select and join syntax generation is simplified. The SQL Modeler also provides:

Multi-select and drag-n-drop functionality for adding tables, views, and functions
Join definition automation
Explain plan statistics generation
Query alteration via the SQL Editor

Database Browser

The Database Browser provides catalog information for specified objects. The left pane contains a list of the objects for the selected tab, while the right pane displays catalog information for the object. It also serves as the launch point for creating, altering, and dropping objects.

Export Utility

The Export Utility wizard provides a single common interface to select file formats (including database-neutral formats such as INSERT statements or Comma Separated Values [CSV] files) when exporting table data. The wizard also supports exporting the same formats to a clipboard. The Utility writes to fixed or variable width files, and can be configured to include column headers and to specify file CODECs.

Project Manager

The Project Manager provides quick and easy access to databases, to the SQL Dictionary, to DB2 Help (if you are connected to a DB2 instance), and to associated project files.

Schema Comparison

The Schema Comparison feature provides a quick and easy way to compare schema based objects. This feature makes it easy to identify object differences and synchronize source and target objects.

Object Migration

The Migration Wizard provides an easy way to migrate object definitions and optionally their data from one DB2 on LUW database to another, or from one DB2 on z/OS subsystem to another. Advanced object filtering, transformation mappings and options give you the flexibility to handle complex migration tasks.

Object Comparison

The Object Compare Wizard provides an easy way to compare any database objects with other objects either across databases/subsystem or within the same database/subsystem. Just like the Migration Wizard, advanced object filtering, transformation mappings and options give you the flexibility to handle complex comparison tasks.

ER Diagrammer

The ER Diagrammer allows you to easily view relationships between objects. You can define objects and relationships or easily view existing object relationships.

DB2 on LUW Command Generation and Execution

The LUW Command Generation and Execution features allows you to quickly and easily generate and execute frequently used DB2 on LUW commands.

DB2 on z/OS Utility Generation and Execution

The Z/OS Utility Generation and Execution features allow you to quickly and easily generate and execute frequently used DB2 on z/OS Utility statements.

DB2 on z/OS Command Generation and Execution

The Z/OS Command Generation and Execution features allow you to quickly and easily generate and execute frequently used DB2 on z/OS commands.

DB2 on z/OS Plan and Package Support

The Plans and Packages features allows you to easily BIND, REBIND, FREE, and DROP DB2 on z/OS Plans and Packages using interfaces that are quick and simple to use.

Support for DB2 LUW Commands and Utilities

Toad allows you to easily generate and execute common DB2 commands. Toad also displays currently running utilities and allows you to throttle their priority.

DB2 LUW Remote Script Execution

Toad now allows you to send your Toad DB2 LUW scripts to an LUW database server platform for database server side script execution. A new wizard walks you through the steps and gets your scripts on the server.

DB2 on LUW Space Management

The LUW Space Management features allow you to easily Analyze Data Partitioned Tables, View Space Usage, Identify Object exceptions, Estimate Space needed for new Tablespaces, Calculate Space and Attach/Detach Partitions.

DB2 on LUW Database level Management

Toad has features that allows you to manage DB2 LUW Database level activities. Applications, Utilities, Monitoring and Permission information is now available at the database level.

DB2 on LUW SQL Optimization

Toad has advanced features that allows you to optimize and tune your DB2 LUW SQL statements. SQL Optimizer provides an interactive workspace in which you can easily improve performance of your DB2 LUW SQL.

DB2 on LUW SQL Analysis

Toad has introduced the DB2 LUW SQL Analysis component that allows you to easily capture SQL running on your database, view SQL metric reports, and analyze your system to identify queries and areas to improve the performance of your database and its applications.

SQL Tuning for DB2 z/OS

Toad introduces SQL Tuning for DB2 z/OS to help you optimize SQL running in your DB2 for z/OS environment. SQL Tuning provides an interactive workspace in which you tweak the SQL in various scenarios and then run Explains on the scenarios to compare their access plans, costs, I/O and CPU usage, and results.
