The Toad Editor

A developer will spend at least half of his/her time in an editor window. The Toad Editor consists of two sections: an upper panel for editing text and a lower panel with tabs for displaying different types of results. The text edit window supports standard Windows editing commands and keystrokes but adds other functionality such as multi-level undo, programmer-style double-click highlighting, a right mouse menu for common editing functions, bookmarks for large files, and more.

The Data tab at the bottom displays the results of SELECT statements. The data grid is user configurable with optional movable columns, popup windows for detail and editing, support for exporting data to disk, printing, editing data, etc. The grid also has a right mouse menu for quick access to grid configuration options. If the resulting dataset is editable, several of the buttons on the Toad Editor toolbar will become enabled (for insert, delete, post updates, etc).
